According to the American Lung Association, “Carpets and rugs may trap pollutants and allergens, like dust mites, pet dander, cockroach allergens, particle pollution, lead, mold spores, pesticides, dirt, and dust. Toxic gases in the air can stick to small particles that settle into carpets [and] these pollutants may become airborne during renovations, vacuuming, or even walking on the carpet.” Yikes.
If you don't remove all the soap when you clean your carpet, it will attract dirt. Over-Shampooing your carpet makes it hard to properly rinse the shampoo all out and vacuum.
